Managed Energy Service Agreement

The ESA supplier retains ownership of the aircraft for the life of ESA and pays for maintenance to ensure reliability and performance. In the case of a MESA structure, the funder pays the electricity bills on behalf of the building and the building pays the funder over time by agreed historical energy costs or a little less. The financing of the MESA appears as an operating cost (procurement services) in the balance sheet of the building and therefore does not add any debt to the capital structure of the building. Sealed estimates that these packages reduce electricity consumption by an average of about 5% and fuel consumption by about 20-25%. The typical energy efficiency package costs between $6,000 and $7,000.
